Ever met a girl called Coppe?

coppe

I met Coppe when I was on the U.S. Tour with the Sneaker Pimps.

We had just played a gig in Phoenix, Arizona. It was a good gig, the kids were cool and a few of them hung around the tour bus after the show and offered to take us to one of the bars that they went to after hours.

On my way out, a cool Japanese girl walked up to me and handed me a c.d. She said that her name was Coppe and that she had made a record and she wanted me to have it. I thanked her and went to the bar with the kids.

The next day, I played the c.d. and fell in love with it, in fact everybody on the tour bus thought it was cool. I was really impressed at her sound and songs. They were unique and sexy and I regretted not having spoken to her for longer.

Some time after I returned to london, I tried to call the number on the back of the c.d. but never managed to get her.I looked around for information about her but found nothing. I just wanted to tell her how cool i thought she was and see what she was doing.

I resigned myself to the thought that I may not ever see this girl again and that if I did, it would probably be on T.V. or the cover of her record.

A considerable time later, maybe two years, I was with a friend from the U.S. who was showing me pictures of gigs and friends on his digital camera and as if by magic, there she was ! Coppe ! I asked him who the girl in the picture was because I wasn't too sure if it was her or not. It turned out that my friend knew Coppe too. It's so cool when something so unlikely happens to you and makes you ask the question coincidence or fate? I asked my friend for her number and he said, ' Hell, let's call her now ! ', so we did. It was great to be able to tell Coppe, finally, how cool her music was and thank her for passing it on to me. She said that she was coming to London to work with some people and she would call me when she arrived.

Not too long after that, we met up and had a lovely time, drinking and talking and laughing. I asked her to come and sing on a song that I was making called Snap Shot of a Dying Dragon with Pascal Gabriel. She sang exactly as I'd hoped she would, with her sensual, ethereal voice, floating into the music. The song has never been released but one day, when the time's right, it will be.

Coppe is now living in Hawaii and has made music with many many people, as well as her own wonderful albums. Check her out, she's cool.!
